We are a non-profit 501(c)(3).
There is no "one size fits all" approach when it comes to meeting a variety of needs. We do all sorts of things! We work to educate staff employed at subsidized properties. We seek out opportunities to coordinate volunteers and match them with needs in a particular community. We rely on grants and donors to implement programs - big and small - to help low-income residents. This can range from webinars to educate staff and residents on a variety of topics (like creating a budget, cleaning your home to reduce invasive pests, maximizing Section 8 contracts, staying compliant with regulatory guidelines, etc), gathering emergency preparedness supplies in case of a hurricane or other disaster, helping protect those in a domestic violence situation, and the list goes on. If we can figure out a way to help, we try!

Our goals change as we see needs change. As of today's date, our missing-drive goal is to provide personal, solar-powered generators to low-income elderly households. We have seen way too many seniors either die, or suffer significant health issues, when there is a loss of power due to disasters of many types (i.e. hurricane, tornado, ice storm, etc), because they did not have access to electricity for a period of time. The elderly population tend to have a higher dependency on the usage of electricity-dependent medical equipment than non-elderly cohorts. This includes things like oxygen machines, c-pap machines, mini fridge to keep life-saving medications (like insulin) cold, and many other necessary and essential things. Even being able to charge cellular devices for access to apps that track insulin levels, and EKG patterns, is essential to the elderly. As such, access to electricity goes beyond a simple convenience. It is truly life or death in many cases. We want to help fix this. Low-income seniors are least likely to financially afford to purchase a personal, solar-powered generator and therefore, they go without, and their lives are put at risk. Your donation could literally save lives!
* Low-income means an annual household income below 120% of Area Median Income (AMI).
** Elderly/seniors is defined as age 62 or older.
We actually need your help! Please donate to our goals. It can be tax deductible! We rely solely on generous donations from good people like you, and grants. The more donations we receive, the more people we can help with our variety of programs and initiatives. We are a small organization who maximizes everything we receive for completion of our mission-drive goals.
Also - We are run by VOLUNTEERS so your donation has MAXIMUM IMPACT!

If you need an IRS compliant receipt for your donation to make it tax deductible, please email us at AHEC@AHEC.PRO. (We are admittedly not very tech savvy and don't know how to send automatic receipts that are IRS compliant, and if we pay someone to figure it out for us then that's less money we have to help others. (Not rocket science here...)
